Nous y reviendrons sur les principales idées avancées par l’auteur à propos de la négociation en traduction. Sémioticien, romancier et théoricien littéraire, orfèvre en la matière, Umberto Eco s’attelle à montrer, à l’aide de moult exemples, que la traduction est une négociation qui doit produire chez le lecteur presque les mêmes effets que dans le texte source tant sur le plan sémantique et syntaxique que sur le plan stylistique, métrique et phonosymbolique. Une telle définition soulève en filigrane la problématique de la fidélité qui continue de donner du fil à retordre aux traducteurs. This article is a review of Umberto Eco’s Saying Almost the Same. We will return to the main ideas put forward by the author about negotiation in translation.
