      <link>https://aleph.edinum.org:443/18108</link>
This article examines spatial transgressivity in Juan Goytisolo’s La cuarentena through Bertrand Westphal’s concept, understood as a sustained regime of spatial and symbolic boundary mobility rather than the isolated crossing of a fixed limit. Using a qualitative, text-centred reading informed by geocriticism, the study investigates five interacting boundary regimes in the novel: life and death, East and West, the sacred and the market, reality and imagination, and language and identity. The findings show that the barzakh operates as a liminal matrix from which the narrative juxtaposes heterogeneous temporalities, traditions, and discursive registers. This spatial organization has formal counterparts in the mobility of narrative voice, heterolingual practice, and the representation of an unfixed identity. The analysis also reassesses, with historiographical caution, the dialogue among Islamic eschatology, Dante, and mystical traditions, without turning debated hypotheses into established lines of influence. It concludes that transgressivity provides a coherent framework for integrating formal, cultural, and identitarian phenomena that earlier criticism generally addressed thematically or in isolation. </description>
