The emergence of the Computerized Medical Record (CMR) strengthened the quality of care, influencing the establishment Hospital and University of Oran (EHUO) to adopt the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). The latter represents much more than a conversion from paper records to digital format. It provides traceability, confidentiality, and security, thus establishing a robust framework for quality healthcare. EHUO, a pioneer in EMR adoption, initiated a major pilot project in 2012, aiming for a complete modernization of the Hospital Information System (HIS). This strategy, supported by investments and collaborations with experts in medical informatics, illustrates EHUO’s commitment to innovation. Ongoing personnel training, transparency, and communication with stakeholders are prioritized to overcome challenges related to privacy protection and data security. The EMR at EHUO offers substantial benefits for both patients and medical staff. It promotes transparency and accessibility of information for patients, reduces medical errors, and enhances communication. For medical personnel, it optimizes data management, speeds up decision-making, strengthens security, and facilitates care coordination. By bringing together the future with an innovation-centric vision, EHUO continues to shape the evolution of healthcare, offering promising prospects for the entire community. L’introduction de l’informatique médicale dans les années 60 a marqué un tournant majeur, passant de la gestion administrative à une intégration complète de l’aspect médical au sein des systèmes d’information hospitaliers. L’émergence du Dossier médical Informatisé (DMI) a renforcé la qualité des soins, influençant l’Établissement Hospitalier Universitaire d’Oran (EHUO) à adopter le Dossier Électronique médical (DEM). Ce dernier représente bien plus qu’une conversion des dossiers papier en format numérique. Il offre traçabilité, confidentialité et sécurité, établissant ainsi un cadre robuste pour des soins de santé de qualité. L’EHUO, pionnier dans l’adoption du DEM, a initié un projet pilote en 2012, visant une modernisation complète du Système d’Information Hospitalier (SIH). Cette stratégie, soutenue par des investissements et des collaborations avec des experts en informatique médicale, illustre l’engagement de l’EHUO envers l’innovation. La formation continue du personnel, la transparence et la communication avec les parties prenantes sont prioritaires pour surmonter les défis liés à la protection de la vie privée et à la sécurité des données.
